Job Description :

This position will work closely with the GM-T to coordinate the maintenance, acquisition transfers and regulatory issues associated with potato variety collections in the Technico group. In addition this position will operate and update the varieties database to facilitate the smooth operation of this function. This function will include tracking varietal production for calculation of royalties. Maintain the varieties database to reflect all varietal additions, movements and changes and ensure the database reflects up to date records at all times. Develop and maintain the varietal characteristics database. Responsible for issuing and maintaining internal TECH code Master List for all facilities. Maintain Nuclear Stock for all facilities. Liaise with each facility, the respective quarantine and other regulatory authorities and private companies to ensure the timely and accurate movement of germ plasm and ensure that all Technico protocols are met in this process (i.e. Authority to Alter Nuclear Stock). Identify the importing requirements of each country to ensure that all disease testing is completed by an accredited facility and meets the importing country and Technico�s requirements. Maintain a complete and orderly record of all paperwork in Variety Office associated with all aspects of varieties and ensure all the correct paperwork has been completed. Undertake searches and investigations into specific varieties and market requirements. Develop relationships with potato breeders and associated companies and maintain up to date information on varietal development. Research PBR status of varieties on a global basis and record in database. Co-ordinate PBR registration of varieties in accordance with private companies, regulating authorities and Technico personnel. Monthly reporting to GM-T on varietal issues. This position will report to the General Manager Technology (GM-T).

Desired Profile :

Proven and demonstrated database set up and management experience Potato industry knowledge � especially variety knowledge would a strong advantage, minimum 5 years experience Good investigative skills Strategic thinking Knowledge of PBR, quarantine, import / export of plants Good computer skills, particularly Access (or other database package), Excel and Word. Excellent communication skills, esp. spoken, written English. Age approximately 30 � 35 years
